Hackathon

Welcome to the Hackathon on Biodiversity Conservation by Zoological Survey of India. This event is dedicated to developing innovative, technology-driven solutions for the urgent challenges facing our planet's biodiversity. We invite participants from all backgrounds—biologists, designers, developers, environmentalists, and more—to join us in creating apps, algorithms, models, prototypes, and even policy proposals that can effectively address these critical issues. This is your opportunity to showcase your creativity, scientific thinking, and problem-solving skills in the fight to protect our natural world.

Hackathon Structure

Hackathon Structure

The competition is structured in three levels:

  • Level-1 (Regional Level): Projects must align with the thematic areas of the ZSI Regional Centres.
  • Level 2 (National 1): Sixteen top projects from the regional level will be invited to present at the ZSI Headquarters (or at a designated Regional Centre). The top five presentations from this group will advance to the final national level.
  • Level 3 (National 2): The final competition will take place on June 30, 2025, in Kolkata, in the presence of the Hon’ble Minister, MoEFCC. The top three presentations will be awarded as the National Winners.

Eligibility

Criteria

Participants: Age No Bar

Teams can consist of students, researchers, or employed individuals from any discipline.

Each team must have a maximum of three members.

Valid identification (UiD) must be submitted.
5
Each team may only participate in one theme.
6
In the preliminary round at Regional Centres,12 teams will be selected, and each team will have 30 minutes to present their ideas. Presentation will be made by all the three members of the team with equal time share.
